Walter J. Haas is the Chair of the Evelyn and Walter Haas, Jr. Fund and a Trustee of the Elise and Walter Haas Fund. He served on the Board of Levi Strauss & Co. from 1995-2006. From 1981-1995, he held several positions in the Oakland A’s baseball company, including Chairman and CEO and President. Haas is a Trustee of the Golden Gate Parks Conservancy.

Haas is the Chair and co-founder of Team-Up for Youth, an organization created in 2002 to help young people grow into healthy, resilient and confident adults through the power of sports. Team-Up for Youth was created to “level the playing field” for low-income boys and girls through high quality after school sports opportunities to teach youth life lessons and values. Its signature program, Coaching Corps, is a partnership with colleges and universities where college students are recruited, trained and placed with community-based organizations as volunteer coaches, enabling thousands of youth the opportunity to play in team sports and interact with a trained coach and mentor. This program is now being offered throughout the state of California and will soon be offered in other cities around the country.
