NCCAS logoThe College Board is partnering with the National Coalition for Core Arts Standards (NCCAS), in support of their work in revising the National Content Standards in the Arts for the first time since 1994. Specifically, the College Board is undertaking a number of research projects to offer background information and resources to NCCAS members that may inform their decisions in revising the standards. These projects include: a review of international arts education standards, an analysis of the current National Standards for Arts Education as compared to the 21st Century Skills Map for the arts, a summary of college-level expectations and benchmarks in the arts, a review of recently revised state standards for arts education, and a series of literature reviews focusing on best practices in arts education as they relate to students' cognitive, social and emotional developmental needs. Full reports for all research initiatives can be found on the NCCAS website.
