Undocumented Students and the DREAM Act

Expand the educational opportunities available to immigrant students and promote passage of the DREAM Act.

About this Project

American in identity and spirit, if not on paper, the 65,000 undocumented students who graduate from U.S. high schools each year share the aspirations and ambitions of their American-born peers, but due to their legal status their social mobility is severely restricted after graduation. This segment of our nation's youth has the potential to make significant contributions to the economy, democracy, and society in general.

Statement of support

“Against all odds, and with courage and determination, at least 65,000 unauthorized immigrant youth have been graduating from American high schools annually during the past few years. Yet they have great difficulty accessing affordable higher education, so they can earn a college degree, acquire advanced knowledge and develop skills required by our information-based economy, in hopes of becoming productive citizens in their adopted homeland of America. Please join the College Board in urging the United States Congress and your state legislatures to pass the DREAM Act.”
