Recent evidence from a national survey of counselors provides support for claims by counselors and school administrators that current counselor staffing levels are suboptimal. An additional high school counselor is predicted to induce a 10 percentage point increase in four-year college enrollment. |

In 2011, the College Board's Advocacy & Policy Center launched a comprehensive research study designed to improve the educational experiences and pathways of young men of color (African Americans, Native Americans, Asian Americans/Pacific Islanders, and Latino Americans). The research provided six recommendations. In response to three of six recommendations, the National Office for School Counselor Advocacy (NOSCA) developed a journal series and a downloadable companion workbook to help enhance K–12 school counselors' capacity to better support young men of color's college and career readiness. This webinar will provide a brief review of the research findings and the barriers that prevent young men of color from advancing through the education system. Guest journal writers will share their perspectives and opinions from an academic and personal perspective. |
